What is included?

Market Share

2024 sees a small shift towards single-sex ownership for both men and women, reversing the trend seen last year.

Ownership

Men continue to hold a slightly greater share of property overall, with 0.5% or just under 8,000 more properties than women.

Investment

Investment property accounts for the bulk of the gap in ownership between genders, with Kiwi men owning 4.7 percentage points more of the investment properties analysed.

Property value

In terms of the value of property, female-owned stock had a median value of $650,532, versus $675,975 for male-owned dwellings.
